Wellness Coaching
Energy 4 Life brought in different psychology and coaching into the mix of nutrition, movement, meditation and looked at the whole person and how best to move them forward. Coaching was equally something that I really enjoyed studying and applying to clients to help support and get forward movement. I have since studied ILM coaching and mentoring to Level 3 and 5 and love the process that puts the client at the centre of the Wellbeing journey. No one person is the same, and no one person’s journey is the same, and that is why I like to work on a one to one basis.
I studied wellness coaching with Caroline Arewa when I realised that many of my nutrition clients found it difficult to make real changes in their lives, and often emotional issues were underlaying behaviours. We all know how to loose weight and eat healthily, right?
Over half of what affects your health is your choice of lifestyle. The way you live your life largely determines the level of health with which you get to experience your life. Perhaps this awareness comes slowly, over years of self-awareness and learning about health and wellness and perhaps it comes quickly, in that teachable moment when you receive a diagnosis or in some way encountered a health challenge. Solitary efforts at changing your lifestyle are not easy, sometimes needing accountability, if you could have done it yourself then you probably would have done it by now. Wellness coaching can bring in some new ideas, but also help you to set clear goals and look pragmatically at any obstacles that may need to be removed.
The biggest obstacle can be love of ourselves, we are not going to do nourishing things for something we don’t love and care about. So often the work begins with self-compassion and self care routines to support our self esteem.
